Our annual Open Day was on Sunday 11th July and it was a great day. The weather held and visitors poured in to see our smallholding. It was nice to see so many familiar faces and also to meet the people we have connected with through Twitter and Facebook.
The Food & Craft Market had a number of new attendees and all seemed to do well. One stallholder said she had sold more that day than at any other market she had attended this year! The music from Rum Kelter was fantastic and we had many compliments about it. They are such nice people and we hope they will be free to come again next year. Our Samphire stall did well selling out of most things by the end of the day. It was nice to see people return from visiting the pigs to buy our sausages and pork pies. I think the connection we make is a valuable one and we are always keen to promote the benefits of rare breed meat.
The Norfolk Smallholding Training Group (NSTG) was there offering advice and managed to recruit a few more members at the same time.
All in all it was a lovely day, visitor numbers were up on last year which had been our best event to date.
We will be taking a break in 2011, no Open Day but hopefully we will be a bit more organised next year !
